The Latest Evolution of Frayme Mylo Walks at Paris Fashion Week
March 6th 2023
The audience at Stella McCartney’s Paris Fashion Week show was in for a wild ride. Held in the oldest equestrian stables in Paris, our long-term collaborator debuted her Winter ‘23 collection in a stunning show titled "Horse Power." Models walked an earthy runway joined by seven rescued horses as attendees looked on from bleachers. This was the backdrop to reveal the latest evolution of the Frayme Mylo™ — made from our mycelium-based leather alternative, finished exclusively for the collection in an elegant cream color.
Inspired by her family's deep affection and storied history with horses, the show was a clear demonstration of Stella's personal love of animals and tireless commitment to cruelty-free textiles. Equestrian-inspired garments in molded shapes and heritage British checks defined the ready-to-wear collection, which was crafted from 92% responsible materials, making it the brand’s most conscious winter offering ever.
The newest evolution of the Frayme Mylo™ was thoughtfully paired with one of the collection’s softer looks worn by model Felice Nova Noordhoff. A flowing asymmetrical white slip dress with lace cutouts was in stunning contrast to the Frayme Mylo™'s oversized aluminum chain strap and structured mycelium-based panels.
Handcrafted by luxury leather artisans in Italy who have been retrained to work with Stella's preferred vegan alternatives, the bag is finished with a statement logo medallion in zamac.
Stella's vision for this creamy addition to her Frayme bag series was to contrast the original design by debuting an elegant new color. The black Frayme Mylo™️ was the world’s first luxury handbag crafted from mycelium. Launched originally at the Summer 2022 show, the first run of 100 editioned bags quickly sold out. The bags have now been restocked, and her latest evolution of the timeless classic further demonstrates Stella's commitment to incorporating Mylo in collections to come.
"Stella McCartney and her incredibly talented team of thought leaders and designers have been at the forefront of championing sustainable materials like Mylo™ for years. Our visionary partnership has inspired a materials innovation movement, paving the way for a more responsible fashion industry," said Dan Widmaier, Founder and CEO at Bolt Threads, inventors of Mylo. "It's an honor to continue our long and storied relationship, and I am excited for everything we'll collaborate on in the future – including this next major milestone of recreating the iconic Frayme Mylo™ in an exclusive new color."
